Episode 13
Have you ever started a new diet full of enthusiasm... only to find yourself back where you started a few weeks later?
Believe me, you're not the only one.
In this episode, I'm sharing another honest update from my own weight loss journey. No pretending I've got it all figured out. No picture-perfect version of events. Just the reality of trying to lose weight while navigating everyday life.
When I recorded my first Slimming Diary, I thought I'd be back the following month with another update. Life, as it often does, had other ideas!
This episode is about the highs, the lows, the wobble moments and starting again. I also talk about giving up added sugar for Lent, getting back into running and why I've decided to keep sharing my own journey—even when it feels a little uncomfortable.
One of the reasons I started Slimming Stories was because I wanted people to know they weren't alone.
If you've ever found yourself saying, "I'll start again on Monday," or feeling frustrated that your weight loss isn't going to plan, I hope this episode reminds you that progress isn't about being perfect. It's about refusing to give up.
In this episode...
🦋 An honest update on my own weight loss journey
🦋 The reality of yo-yo dieting and starting again
🦋 Giving up added sugar for Lent
🦋 Getting back into running
🦋 Why perfection isn't the goal
🦋 Learning to keep going, even after the wobble moments

Episode 12
What if losing weight wasn't about dieting... but about changing your relationship with food?
For years, Fiona felt exhausted.
After a long day at work, most evenings ended the same way—with a nap on the sofa. Feeling tired, sluggish and overweight had become her normal, and she couldn't imagine life being any different.
Fast forward a few years, and Fiona's life looks completely different.
Instead of reaching for the sofa, she's reaching for her running shoes. Not only has she lost an incredible 5 stone with Slimming World, she's gone on to run marathons and, perhaps even more importantly, made peace with food.
That's what I love most about Fiona's story.
Yes, the weight loss is incredible, but it's the freedom she's found around food that really shines through. Healthy eating is no longer a battle. Exercise is no longer a punishment. They've simply become part of the life she's created for herself.
If you've ever wondered whether it's possible to stop constantly thinking about food and finally enjoy a healthier lifestyle, I really think you're going to love this conversation.
In this episode...
🦋 Fiona's inspiring 5 stone weight loss with Slimming World
🦋 Moving from exhaustion to running marathons
🦋 Creating a healthier relationship with food
🦋 Why healthy habits become easier over time
🦋 Discovering confidence through exercise
🦋 Finding freedom from guilt and shame around eating

Can you really put yourself first when everyone else needs you?
For so many mums, the answer feels like "no."
Between work, family life and looking after everyone else, finding time for yourself can seem almost impossible. But Victoria Somers proves that looking after your own health isn't selfish—it's one of the greatest gifts you can give both yourself and your family.
In this episode, Victoria shares her inspiring WeightWatchers journey after becoming a mum for the second time. Determined to feel healthier and happier, she went on to lose 2 stone 11lb, all while balancing work as a nurse, raising a young family and supporting patients during the devastating Australian bushfires.
What I love about Victoria's story is that it isn't about chasing perfection.
It's about planning ahead, creating healthy habits that work for family life and recognising that small, consistent changes really do add up.
If you've ever wondered how you're supposed to fit healthy eating around a busy home, a demanding job and children, I think you're going to take so much from this conversation.
In this episode...
🦋 Victoria's inspiring WeightWatchers weight loss journey
🦋 Balancing work, motherhood and healthy eating
🦋 Losing 2 stone 11lb after having children
🦋 Meal planning and creating healthy family habits
🦋 Looking after yourself without feeling guilty
🦋 Why consistency always beats perfection

How do you even begin to look after yourself when your mental health is at its lowest?
It's a question so many people ask themselves, yet very few people talk about openly.
In this episode, I chat with Tom Fox, who shares his incredibly honest story of living with anxiety, depression and body dysmorphia, while trying to rebuild his relationship with food and with himself.
Tom had previously lost an amazing 8 stone 5lb, but difficult life events, challenges at work and the breakdown of a relationship left him struggling with his mental health. Healthy eating became harder, self-care slipped away and life felt overwhelming.
What I love about Tom's story is that it doesn't pretend recovery is straightforward.
It's about finding the strength to keep putting one foot in front of the other, even on the days when you don't feel like moving at all.
Today, Tom has found his way back to healthier habits, proving that setbacks don't have to define your future.
If you're listening to this feeling stuck, please know this... you're not alone, and this episode is a reminder that there is always hope.
In this episode...
🦋 Tom's experience of living with anxiety, depression and body dysmorphia
🦋 Losing over 8 stone and rebuilding healthy habits
🦋 Why mental health and weight loss are so closely connected
🦋 Finding the strength to start again after difficult life events
🦋 Learning that progress isn't always a straight line
🦋 Why asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness

The first weigh-in after Christmas, the most wonderful time of the year! With bloated bellies and a wardrobe full of good intentions, we walk the green mile destination unknown. Does this sound dramatic enough!? In fact, we have all most likely over-indulged over Christmas and would have had to either have lived like a saint or caught the flu to have escaped a gain on the scales. Today's episode is all about honesty facing the new year and looking at our focus and goal setting. I have made the brave decision to document my weight loss for 2020 in part 1 of my “not so secret slimming diary”. In January after we step on the scales our good intentions are set in stone. I’m unsure it's due to the fact that we've eaten our body weight in chocolate that encourages a healthy lifestyle or the realization that living off such a high-calorie intake isn't all what its cracked up to be! I promise to update the podcast with regular updates as I tackle my food baby! There will be moments of temper and calm, wobbles and resistance as I face my weight issues head-on in 2020.

Have you ever had one of those moments that changes everything?
For Gina, it happened in the changing rooms of Marks & Spencer.
After years of struggling with her weight, avoiding photographs and feeling uncomfortable in her own skin, Gina picked up a pair of size 8 jeans almost as a joke. She never imagined they'd fit.
When they did, the emotion completely overwhelmed her.
She found herself laughing, crying and collapsing onto the changing room floor, hardly believing how far she'd come.
But that moment wasn't where the story began.
Like so many people, Gina had spent years putting everyone else first while her own health took a back seat. Carrying excess weight had left her struggling with knee pain, feeling breathless and missing out on life.
Joining Slimming World changed everything.
Losing more than 8 stone gave Gina far more than a smaller dress size. It gave her confidence, freedom and the opportunity to enjoy life in ways she'd almost forgotten were possible.
I love Gina's story because it reminds us that weight loss isn't just about what the scales say. It's about getting your life back.
In this episode...
🦋 Gina's incredible 8 stone weight loss with Slimming World
🦋 The changing room moment she'll never forget
🦋 Moving from knee pain and breathlessness to an active lifestyle
🦋 Discovering a love of running and Zumba
🦋 Building confidence one step at a time
🦋 Why losing weight can give you so much more than a smaller clothes size

How many diets have you started, only to find yourself back where you began a few weeks later?
If you've ever felt frustrated by dieting, you're certainly not alone.
Before discovering Keto, Johanna had tried all sorts of approaches to lose weight, including SlimFast and even the famous maple syrup diet. Like so many people, she'd experienced the cycle of hope, determination and disappointment more times than she cared to remember.
Instead of jumping into another new eating plan, Johanna did something different.
She took the time to research the Keto lifestyle, learning how it worked before deciding whether it was the right fit for her.
That decision completely changed her relationship with food.
Today, Johanna not only enjoys living a Keto lifestyle herself but also inspires thousands of others through her beautiful recipes and mentoring. Her passion for creating delicious Keto meals proves that healthy eating doesn't have to feel restrictive or boring.
Whether you're following Keto, Slimming World, WeightWatchers, calorie counting or another approach, this episode is a reminder that finding the right plan for you can make all the difference.
In this episode...
🦋 Johanna's journey from fad diets to the Keto lifestyle
🦋 Why taking time to research before starting helped her succeed
🦋 Building a healthier relationship with food
🦋 Creating delicious Keto recipes the whole family can enjoy
🦋 Helping and inspiring others through social media and mentoring

Imagine feeling out of breath walking upstairs... then standing on top of the highest mountain in Ireland.
It almost sounds impossible, but that's exactly what Aoife achieved.
When Aoife first visited her doctor, she knew her weight was affecting her health. Even climbing a few steps at home left her breathless, and deep down she knew something had to change.
Joining Slimming World was the turning point.
What followed was an incredible transformation. Aoife went on to lose an astonishing 14½ stone, but the biggest change wasn't just the number on the scales—it was the confidence she gained along the way.
Then came a challenge she never expected.
After agreeing to what she thought was "just a walk", Aoife found herself climbing Carrauntoohil, the highest mountain in Ireland. To make matters even more remarkable, this came after suffering a serious fall that left her with a broken pelvis, fractured femur and injuries to her tailbone during her weight loss journey.
Many people would have given up.
Aoife didn't.
I absolutely love this conversation because it's about so much more than losing weight. It's about discovering just how strong you really are, even when life throws obstacles in your path.
If you're wondering whether it's too late to change your life, I hope Aoife's story reminds you that amazing things can happen when you take that very first step.
In this episode...
🦋 Aoife's incredible 14½ stone weight loss with Slimming World
🦋 How an honest conversation with her doctor changed everything
🦋 Regaining her health, confidence and mobility
🦋 Recovering from serious injuries without giving up on her goals
🦋 Climbing Ireland's highest mountain after once struggling with the stairs
🦋 Why believing in yourself can change your life

Have you ever looked at someone completing an Ironman and thought, "I could never do that"?
The truth is, Michelle once thought exactly the same.
As a child, Michelle loved sport and being active, but like so many of us, life became busy. Raising a family meant her own health and fitness slowly slipped down the list of priorities, and before she knew it she no longer recognised the active person she used to be.
Wanting to make a change, Michelle joined her local leisure centre and began swimming, attending fitness classes and gradually rebuilding her confidence. Then, just as things were starting to fall into place, the leisure centre closed.
For many people that would have been the end of the story.
Instead, it became the beginning.
A new gym opened, Michelle found encouragement from an inspiring coach, and before long she was saying yes to challenges she never imagined possible. What started with small steps eventually led to Tough Mudder events and even completing an Ironman.
I love Michelle's story because it reminds us that you don't have to be naturally sporty to achieve incredible things. Sometimes all it takes is the courage to begin.
In this episode...
🦋 Rediscovering a love of fitness after becoming a mum
🦋 Finding confidence through swimming, gym classes and exercise
🦋 Why support and encouragement can change everything
🦋 Taking on Tough Mudder and Ironman challenges
🦋 Stepping outside your comfort zone one challenge at a time
🦋 Proof that it's never too late to change your life

Episode 4
Holidays are meant to be enjoyed... so why do so many of us spend them worrying about food?
Whether it's a family holiday, Halloween, Christmas or simply a weekend away, it's easy to fall into the trap of thinking we've "blown it" and need to start again on Monday.
In this episode, I chat with the lovely Emma Isaacs about finding balance when life gets busy. Emma is a freelance designer, works with well-known brands, is raising a young family and understands just how difficult it can be to juggle work, children and trying to look after yourself at the same time.
We talk honestly about holiday temptations, making time to switch off and why healthy living doesn't have to mean saying no to everything you enjoy.
One of the things I love about this conversation is that it's not about perfection. It's about finding a way of living that feels realistic, enjoyable and sustainable.
If you've ever come home from a holiday feeling disappointed in yourself, or worried that one celebration has undone all your hard work, I really hope this episode helps you look at things differently.
In this episode...
🦋 Finding balance between work, family life and looking after yourself
🦋 Managing food temptations during holidays and celebrations
🦋 Why healthy living doesn't have to mean missing out
🦋 Letting go of perfection and enjoying precious family time
🦋 Building habits that fit around real life
