How can you truly believe someone else's compliments if you don't believe them yourself?
For years, Lisa struggled to accept kind words from other people.
Whenever someone complimented her, she assumed they were simply being polite. Years of negative self-talk had convinced her that she wasn't worthy of believing them.
Then life changed.
Following her divorce, Lisa found herself sitting in a therapist's office asking one important question:
"Where do I go from here?"
Although she'd already begun losing weight, she realised something was still missing.
She didn't love herself.
No amount of weight loss alone could fix that.
During therapy, Lisa decided to try something she'd never imagined would become such a huge part of her life.
She started running.
With every mile, Lisa slowly rebuilt her confidence, rediscovered her identity and began treating herself with the same kindness she so freely gave to everyone else.
Today, Lisa coaches and supports other women on their own health and fitness journeys, helping them realise that lasting transformation begins long before the scales change.
This episode is about so much more than weight loss.

What happens when you finally stop hiding and start showing up as yourself?
Social media can make it look as though everyone has their life together.
Perfect photos.
Perfect lighting.
Perfect lives.
But true confidence isn't about filters—it's about feeling comfortable enough to be yourself.
That's exactly what Debbie discovered.
Before joining Slimming World, Debbie weighed 26 stone 7lb and felt completely trapped by her weight. It affected every part of her life—her health, confidence, self-esteem and even her belief that lasting change was possible.
Like so many people, she'd tried countless diets over the years.
Each time she believed the problem was a lack of willpower.
It wasn't.
Everything changed after a family trip to London.
Unable to fit on a ride at a theme park, Debbie returned home to an unexpected family meeting. Her mum and sister had become deeply concerned about her health after seeing first-hand how much she was struggling.
It wasn't an easy conversation.
But it came from love.
That conversation became the turning point Debbie needed.
She joined Slimming World and went on to lose an incredible 15½ stone.
Today, Debbie inspires thousands of people through her YouTube channel, Debbie's World, where she shares the reality of weight loss with warmth, honesty and humour.
One of the things I love most about Debbie is that she doesn't try to be perfect.
She simply shows up as herself.
And that's exactly why so many people love following her journey.

What would you do if your doctor told you that your life depended on losing weight?
This episode is a re-release of one of the most inspiring conversations in the history of Slimming Stories.
When Aoife Larkin visited her doctor, she received some brutally honest advice that would change her life forever.
Her doctor didn't sugar-coat the situation.
He told Aoife that if she didn't change her eating habits, her family and friends would one day be carrying her out in a box.
Those words were painful to hear.
But they became the wake-up call Aoife needed.
When she joined Slimming World, Aoife weighed 25 stone 9lb. From that moment on, she committed herself to changing her future—and went on to lose an astonishing 14 stone 10lb.
Her journey wasn't without heartbreak.
Halfway through her weight loss, Aoife suffered a devastating fall on her staircase, breaking her pelvis, tailbone and fracturing her femur.
Many people would have given up.
Aoife didn't.
She recovered, carried on and continued moving towards the life she'd dreamed of.
Then came one final challenge.
When someone invited her on what she thought was "just a walk," she agreed without hesitation.
That walk turned out to be Carrauntoohil, the highest mountain in Ireland.
The woman who had once become breathless climbing three stairs reached the summit of Ireland's tallest peak.
If that isn't proof that lives can completely change, I don't know what is.

What changes when your reason for losing weight becomes bigger than losing weight itself?
If you've listened to Part 1 of Shaun's story, you'll know that a frightening health scare and the love he has for his daughter completely changed the way he viewed his future.
In this episode, we pick up where that journey continued.
When Shaun walked back through the doors of his local Slimming World group, something felt different.
This time, he wasn't hoping to lose weight.
He had decided he was going to.
Just one week later, Shaun stepped onto the scales to discover he'd lost an incredible 17lb.
That first result wasn't just about the number—it proved to Shaun that lasting change was possible.
With every pound he lost, his confidence grew.
Healthy eating soon became second nature, but Shaun didn't stop there. He challenged himself physically too, developing a real passion for the gym before deciding to try something he never imagined he'd enjoy—running.
After completing his first 5K in under 30 minutes, most people would have celebrated and headed home.
Not Shaun.
The very next day, he completed a 10K.
That determination and resilience eventually led Shaun to achieve an incredible 10½ stone weight loss before becoming a Slimming World Consultant, where he now helps others believe they can change their own lives too.
This isn't just a story about losing weight.
It's a story about discovering what you're truly capable of.

How many precious memories are we willing to miss before we decide it's time for change?
For Shaun, the turning point came during what should have been a fun family day out.
Watching his daughter enjoy the rides at a theme park should have been a joyful experience. Instead, Shaun found himself standing on the sidelines because his weight meant he couldn't join in.
It wasn't the first time his weight had held him back.
Having successfully lost weight in the past only to regain it, Shaun knew exactly how frustrating the cycle could be.
Then came a frightening health scare.
While spending time with his daughter and family, Shaun experienced severe chest pain. Thankfully, it wasn't the outcome he feared, but the experience forced him to ask himself one difficult question:
What if next time I was alone with my daughter?
That thought changed everything.
From that moment on, Shaun's motivation wasn't simply about losing weight—it was about being there for the people who mattered most.
Determined to rewrite his future, Shaun went on to lose an incredible 10½ stone with Slimming World.
Today, he's helping other people transform their own lives as a Slimming World Consultant.

The world changed after Covid.

That's exactly why I wanted to introduce you to one of my closest friends, fellow podcaster and someone who has had a huge influence on my own personal growth—Kim Flodin.
Kim is a Reiki Master, Intuitive Healer, Psychic Coach and Energy Guide, and in this episode she shares a completely different perspective on self-care.

What if the biggest decision of your life was the one you didn't go through with?
After years of losing weight, regaining it and feeling trapped in an endless cycle of yo-yo dieting, Selena reached a point where she'd had enough.
She decided to pursue weight loss surgery.
After medical consultations, psychological assessments and months of preparation, her surgery was booked.
Everything was ready.
Then, with just one week to go, Selena made a life-changing decision.
She cancelled it.
At the time, she had no idea what would happen next.
Walking away from surgery felt like walking away from the only solution she believed could finally end years of frustration.
But instead of giving up, Selena made a promise to herself.
She was going to change her life another way.

How do you learn to love yourself after years of bullying ?
This week's episode is one of the most emotional conversations I've recorded.
Shannon Palmer's story is about far more than weight loss. It's about resilience.
Growing up, Shannon experienced relentless bullying throughout both primary and secondary school because of her weight. Food became her comfort, and before long she found herself trapped in a cycle that felt impossible to escape.
She began to believe she was destined to be the "funny friend" rather than the girl who turned heads or felt confident in her own skin.
Desperate to feel beautiful for her school prom, Shannon secretly restricted her food intake and reached a size 10. But despite the dramatic weight loss, she still couldn't see herself the way she had hoped.
The weight returned.
Later, she tried slimming pills, only to discover they were another temporary solution.
Then life dealt Shannon an unimaginable blow.
While at work, she received a phone call telling her that her family home was on fire. Everything they owned was destroyed, and she later discovered her mum had come within four minutes of losing her life.
After everything she'd been through, Shannon reached a turning point while on holiday. Watching other women confidently walking around in bikinis, she made a promise to herself.
One day, that would be her.
Joining Slimming World became the beginning of a completely different chapter.
Today, Shannon has transformed not only her body but also her confidence, self-worth and relationship with herself.
This is a story about hope, resilience and proving that your past does not have to define your future.

Have you ever started a diet on Monday… only to find yourself ordering a takeaway by Wednesday?
If so, you're definitely not alone.
That's exactly where Melanie found herself.
Determined to lose weight, she threw herself into what she thought was healthy eating—salads, tiny portions and cutting out foods like pasta and potatoes.
By Wednesday, she was eating a kebab.
Not because she'd failed.
Because she was hungry.
Thankfully, one conversation with a friend changed everything.
Instead of telling Melanie to eat less, her friend encouraged her to eat more. More filling foods. More protein. More satisfying meals. Eggs, bacon and beans suddenly became part of the plan, and for the first time, losing weight no longer felt like punishment.
That moment completely changed Melanie's relationship with food.
Today, Melanie has reduced her dress size from 20/22 to 12/14, discovered a love of running and enjoys creating delicious meals inspired by the incredible Slimming World community on Instagram.
One of the things I admire most about Melanie's story is that she didn't let one difficult start define her journey.
She simply got back on track.

What if the person who says, "I could never be a runner," becomes the person crossing the finish line?
If you've listened to Part 1 of Leah's story, you'll know that becoming a mum was the turning point that inspired her incredible 10 stone weight loss.
In this episode, we pick up where that story left off.
Leah shares what happened after she walked through the doors of her local Slimming World group and how those first small changes gradually became a completely different way of life.
At the beginning of her journey, simply walking up her own street left her feeling uncomfortable.
Running?
That wasn't even on her radar.
But once Leah realised she wasn't following another fad diet—and that the weight was genuinely coming off—her confidence began to grow.
Little by little, she challenged herself to become more active, eventually discovering a love of running that she never believed was possible.
I love this conversation because it perfectly demonstrates that confidence doesn't arrive before you begin... it grows because you begin.
